Too shy. Can’t speak.

I might have part-time work coming very soon! I wish management would be clearer, but this is the way this business works. I guess. I haven’t worked at my second job since December. I really could use the money. First I really need to pay off a credit card (in two years the interest rate will be crazy!). But I also really need a storm door to keep the cold air out of the house. I also have to pay for installation of the door so that can get a little pricey. It shouldn’t be over $300 overall though. I hope to get that installed by mid-September.

My certification test in this Saturday at 7:30 AM. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! Um, yeah. I’m way too not anxious about this. Last time I took a certification test (in 2014), I was freaking out all. the. time. I hope I pass. I can take it again in August if I fail. I’ll probably blog more about this in my next entry if I start freaking out. 😉

I signed up for Direct TV Now. It was $35 a month for a great number of cable channels. But I wanted more sports and Oprah’s network, so I upgraded to $50 a month. Right now I’m not paying anything. I have a free trial until Sunday at 7 PM. I’m thinking about canceling because I’m used to not having cable now, and I don’t watch it that much as of now. Is it worth $50 a month?

The good thing is that I can cancel anytime (unlike some cable contracts) so I will probably give it a month to see how much I actually watch the service. The one thing I don’t like is there is no DVR service. Hulu Live TV has it and so does YouTube TV, so that seems odd to me. Are they going to add it at a later date and charge more for it? I would love the cloud DVR service.

Long story short: I will probably not make a rash cancellation on Sunday. I will pay the $50 and keep it for a month to see if it is worth it. If I ever NEED to cancel, it is so easy to just cancel. No commitment.

I’m going do my evening spiritual work (A Course in Miracles and meditation) and then study a little. The NBA finals are on tonight. I don’t want the season to end tonight, but I have a feeling it will.

No one hears the silent tears

Countdown:

12 days until March Madness/my 4 day vacay from work

67 days until my birthday cabin getaway (5 days of no work)

131 days until I have to pass a mandatory test to keep my certification :/ (also a week off from work)

Ugh. Verizon is going to make it really hard for me to get rid of cable since I have it bundled with internet. Those damn bundles. The good thing is that I don’t have a contract but I want to keep Verizon for internet. Blah. When I tell people what I pay for cable/internet, they tell me I have a good deal BUT I need to cut something and I’ve already cut other things so cable seems like the most logical choice. I don’t know what to do. I NEED the internet for work so I can’t just say “screw everything”. Trust me, I would seriously consider it.

I was getting really excited about cancelling cable and now…SCREAM. I’m sure there is someway to get Verizon internet by itself (but is the price worth it?), I just don’t know how. I looked over the website and I chatted online with a rep. No help. So I may have to make the dreaded phone call. I hate talking on the phone.

My ‘No Spend’ for March is going horribly. It doesn’t help that I’m getting a bonus from work next week. I’m still going to use most of the money for paying off debt. But I did pre-order a  gold faux leather personal sized planner for $35. (I don’t feel bad about collecting planners because they are easy to resell. If they are sold out, you will get more than you paid for it). But buying stuff for my planners has to stop. Ordering  take-out food or just buying expensive food has to stop.

The only good thing is that I’m more aware of where my money goes. I’m writing down every dime spent in my planners.

This Week I…

Music for the week:  Kelly Clarkson, Brandi Carlile, Ellie Goulding, Mariah Carey, Sam Smith, Brooke Fraser, Brandy Clark, D’Angelo

TV for the week: House of Cards, basketball

House of Cards. The following is only a spoiler if you haven’t seen season two: I don’t know what people expected to happen when Underwood became president. I knew it would be different. The president can’t get away with the same things as a person in the House can.  I think they are trying to make the show a little realistic. That is one reason I was shocked they let his character become president so soon. I thought “this show is over” but then I found out they were doing a season three.

I like this season better than season 2 so far. It isn’t much different than The West Wing. (I liked that show, didn’t love it). I think I have 2-3 episodes left.

Movie of the week: Blue Ruin. I miss watching thrillers . I’m so sick of romantic movies.  With that being said, Blue Ruin was just okay. It was definitely different.

Books of the week: . Etsy 101: Sell Your Crafts on Etsy, the DIY Marketplace for Handmade, Vintage and Crafting Supplies by Steve Weber (21% through) and I Don’t Want To, I Don’t Feel Like It: How Resistance Controls Your Life and What to Do About It by Cheri Huber (on page 40)

The Etsy book is very interesting. I also watched an Etsy 101 class on Creative Live this week. It is definitely something I want to pursue BUT I’m still thinking about product. Should I make my own inspirational notebooks/mugs/bookmarks/whatever or just sell supplies? When I say “make my own”, I mean outsource it. LOL. I don’t make anything except jewelry (on rare occasions- not a passion). I want to get started in June so I better think harder. 😉 Btw, outsourcing it is cheaper than making them myself. But the quality would be more Etsy-ish if I made them myself. By June I will probably come up with something totally different. My goal is to have a shop filled with things I would want to buy.

Knitting Projects of the week: I messed my cowl up at the car dealership! Wahhh! The guy told me my car was ready (oil change) and I jumped up and guess what? My cowl is messed up. So I’m finishing up my scarf. It is long enough to take off the needles now but I want to use all the yarn so I will keep knitting. A pic when I’m done.

Walked: I walked the most on Saturday: 7,563 steps! I still haven’t hit the magic number of 10,000.

I’m sort of prepared to do one of my planner videos. I still haven’t gotten my dividers from Finland so one video  is on hold until they arrive. I brought purple nail polish. My hands are ready. Now if only my voice and mind would catch up. I’m probably going to shoot the video tomorrow. I may upload the video tomorrow also. ::scared:: People do make money from YouTube videos. I’m not saying I will but people say do what you love and the money will follow. Okay………….

my fear became my shadow

On the 18th day or so, I have water!!!11!! Unbelievable. I’m so grateful. I thought a pipe might have burst but it doesn’t seem like it. YAY for water!

I’m thinking about cancelling cable. No it isn’t all about cable news (see entry below). It is about money. I’m pretty sure I’m going to do it. The question is when? The NBA season ends in mid to late June. I would like to do it before then. I wish I hadn’t started watching the season this year. It will be hard to not watch the playoffs.

As far as TV goes, I will try to get some channels through an antenna and a converter box. No monthly fees. But I’m not sure I’ll be able to get anything. My house is facing a bunch of trees. (Does that even matter?) I’m not really worried about it. Recently I’ve been having my TV off while I’m working during the day and I’m not missing anything. Watching basketball at night is really my main concern. I gave up football, let me have my basketball! 😉

That money will most likely go to another bill. I wish it could go to savings. So…….as of right now, I’m thinking I’m going to cancel cable TV in June. But I sort of need the money NOW. Hmmm. Still thinking it through. I will still have internet through Verizon. I need internet to do my job so that can’t go anywhere.

Right now I’m just going to have my TV off most of the time just to get use to the idea of no television. I may try Hulu. I don’t know anything about it. I just know it exists and a lot of people use it. But that would be ANOTHER bill so ehh, may not happen. Oooooh I just checked out what they have to offer! They have the ID channel. I might have to check them out. 7.99 a month? I can do that after I cancel cable….maybe.

I’m also thinking about cancelling my gym membership but once again I’m not sure about that. It is $30 a month. I do have access to a free gym through work. But the free gym and the paid for gym offer different things. What I may do is just go to the paid gym more. Get my money’s worth.  Go to water aerobics even though the teacher is a hard ass. (I can’t swim so I can’t do all the stuff and she’s screaming at us. And the floor of the pool is slippery and I’m afraid of falling. etc. etc.) I wish the free gym had a pool but that is never going to happen.

Right now I only use the paid gym for spin class 2-3 times a month. It is too crowded to just go there for the treadmill. And I don’t like lifting weights in front of a bunch of people so that’s out. When it is warm (very soon!), my favorite activity is walking. I cannot wait to take my dog to the park. That should be fun. Lots of walking.

kikki.k planner

kikki.k planner

I DID IT! I put my Plum Paper Planner in my Kikki.K planner. I’m in love. In fact I said “this is my new baby” while holding it and my dog gave me a nasty look. Sorry. It took forever. I did it the slow way. I kept stopping so I don’t know exactly how long it took. I did it over two days. It is so worth it. OMG. Love.

this week so far...

Don’t the gold rings look so much better than that spiral coil? Have I said how much I love, love, love my new planner set up?

UPS update: UPS lost a package of mine. It was a pack of ink pens – Pilot FriXion Ball Erasable Gel Pens, 3-Pack,  I went to the UPS center to pick it up because they kept saying ‘out for delivery’ but I never got a package. It wasn’t there.  I filed a claim so I could get them to investigate. I thought they would give me what the pens are worth since they asked that when I filed the claim.

All I got was a phone call. No apology in the voice mail. “Contact Amazon” was basically all she said. Really? No shit. This is YOUR fault, not Amazon’s. I had already done that and Amazon graciously had already shipped my pens (they came yesterday). UPS could have at least admitted to losing the package. Anyway, all is well now. I partially blame Amazon because they are known for shipping small things in envelopes. 95% of the time that is okay but UPS kept taking the packages on and off the truck because they couldn’t deliver them that day (due to snow or whatever) and the packages were ruined in the process.

Thanks Amazon for sending me another set of pens. They didn’t have to do that but I knew they would.
